Don't just sit around – get out and do stuff. There is plenty of things to do around. This section outlines just a small portion of those.

Forest Lakes Library

Established in 1993, the library is located at on Old Rim Road in the Chevelon Butte School building. (Note: This is like right across the road from our cabin – an easy walk!) The library is composed of over 12,000 books, DVD’s and videos.

Patrons may access the Internet by using one of the public computers or can log-on with their laptop via the 24/7 wireless connection. People often pull in the parking lot to quickly connect and check their email.

The library hosts many different activities during the year including summer kids’ activities, holiday parties and fundraisers.

For those of you who have never visited the library before, come on in and check it out. You’ll be quite impressed. Bring the kids too as there are some sweet toys to ride around on.

NOTE: The library has a large selection of DVD's available for check-out. They also have crafts for kids on most Saturdays during the Summer. Be sure to deposit any checked out items in the book drop before leaving Forest Lakes.

Forest Lakes Community Center

The Community Center, located at 1111 Merzville Rd., is available for rent for meetings, community activities and private events. Please contact Wayne Rothwell, Events Coordinator, for more information or with questions. He can be contacted by email at gthrower@frontiernet.net or by Phone; 928-587-8634.

During the Summer months there are also regular community activities. Some such as pancake breakfasts, rummage sales and ice cream socials are advertised on boards as you enter Forest Lakes. Other activities include the 4th of July parade (comes right down Old Rim Road), and lots of yard sales. You can usually find more info on these through social media sites.

“The Pond”

Forest lakes has a pond area. Depending upon the time of year it can be full, broken into multiple ponds or nearly empty. It freezes over during the Winter. In the Summer it is stocked with trout for fishing. A valid fishing license is required. It is located on the North West side of Forest Lakes off Canyon Drive. You can see it on Google Maps.

Churches

Forest Lakes Community Church

Forest Lakes has a non-denominational church. Services are held every Sunday from 10-11 AM May 15 through September 25 at the School District Building across the road by the library. Bring a folding chair as most meetings are held on the back lawn.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

This area attends the Black Canyon Ward. The building is located East on highway 260 just after you enter Heber on the Left hand (North) side of the road. In 2017 church is at 11:00.

You can also go the other direction to get to the Christopher Creek branch. It is located on the Christopher Creek Loop road across from the fire station.

Be aware that on major holidays such as Memorial Day and the 4th of July, both of these have only Sacrament meeting and use every available room to facilitate the visitor seating.
